Famous Pashto singer, Ghazala Javedwas shot dead in Peshawar on Monday night.
According to sources, anonymous armed men shot Ghazala Javed and her father as she was headed for a show from a beauty parlor. The singer was taken to Lady Reading Hospital where she and her father were pronounced dead by the doctors.
Preliminary reports speculated that her husband may be involved in the murder. Ghazala had divorced her husband, Jahangir, six months back.
Ghazala Javed was a Pakhtun singer belonging to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province. She was considered to be a leader in reviving and promoting female singing within the KPK province following the Taliban insurgency. Mehdi Hassan, the Indian-born Pakistani singer, died on Wednesday in the Pakistani city of Karachi at the age of 84. Mr. Hassan had been suffering from multiple organ disorders for the past several years.
Mr. Hassan was born in the state of Rajasthan in pre-partition India and belonged to a family of musicians. He serenaded millions of fans across the globe for several decades with his rendition of ghazals, a genre of music popular in South Asia.
His style inspired many Indian musicians. Some of the ghazals that made him a household name in the subcontinent include, “Ranjish hi sahi dil hi dukhaane ke liye aa” and “Patta patta, boota boota.”
Mr. Hassan had performed in India on several occasions; his last concert in the country was held in 2000 . He sang a duet for an album with the legendary Indian singer Lata Mangeshkar, which was released in 2010.
Ms. Mangeshkar expressed grief at Mr. Hassan’s death, saying, “A voice like his may never be heard again,” The Express Tribune of Pakistan reported.
Actors, singers and politicians took to social media Web sites and Twitter to share their condolences.
The former cricketer and Pakistani politician Imran Khan wrote on Twitter : “Saddened to hear of the death of our legend Mehdi Hassan. His music will live on but we are poorer with his passing away.”
“RIP #Mehdi Hassan saab, huge loss to the world of music … your Voice is immortal though,” wrote the Indian musician Shankar Mahadevan on Twitter.
The Indian actor Anupam Kher remembered how he had “gate crashed” into the Pakistani embassy as a student to listen to Mr. Hassan, “his favorite ghazal singer,” he wrote on Twitter.
The office of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said in a Twitter post: “Shri [Mr.] Hassan brought the sub-continental Sufi sensibilities to life through his songs.”
According to media reports, Mr. Hassan was to travel to India for treatment, but his deteriorating health condition did not allow him to do so.

After forcing its users to switch to Timeline, Facebook is now working on a new design layout of the profile. Facebook has confirmed it is testing the new design, which is likely to have more information and links into the cover photo that appears on top of profile page.
According to reports, the new Timeline will have user name, home location, occupation, education and other basic information over the cover photo, with white fonts. Facebook is also going to add a “Summary” tab, which will have a list of user's remarkable “Life Events”. Other changes Facebook is considering to incorporate is replacing the current “Likes” with “Favourites” and putting “Friends”, “Photos”, “Map” and the new “Favourites” into a smaller strip below the cover picture.
Facebook had introduced Timeline feature last year, replacing site's then profile page. Timeline profile is more like a list of the recent updates in a chronological manner. The profile displays photos, videos, status updates and locations shared by user. The new Facebook profile is split into two main columns, with a line in the middle, representing the passage of time. Facebook started rolling out Timeline to all users in January this year.

Well, this sure beats pepper-spraying your way past the competition for Black Friday merchandise.
While others were scrambling for cut-rate waffle-iron deals the day after Thanksgiving, Paris Hilton was treating herself to one very expensive ride (and no, it doesn't look like it was on sale).

The 30-year-old heiress scooped up a red 2012 California Spyder Ferrari worth about $300,000 on Friday, a Hilton source confirms.

And the Hilton source confirms that confirmation.
"Just drove my new car for the first time," Hilton tweeted Friday. "Such a beautiful car and so much fun to drive! I love it! #YES! I ♡ Fast Cars!"
Our Hilton source tells E! News, "She decided to treat herself to an early Christmas gift. She worked very hard this year and just got home from traveling to 12 different countries to open her stores."
"Paris has always wanted a red Ferrari ever since being a little girl. She is a huge tomboy at heart and loves fast cars and bikes," the source says.
"She even has her own MotoGP racing team. Her team recently won the world MotoGP championships so she is celebrating!"
The Ferrari is the latest addition to the star's extensive car collection, which includes two Bentleys, a Range Rover, a hybrid Escalade and a Lexus LFA.
